Industry Trend Analysis - Silver & Gold Projects To Brighten Outlook - DEC 2015

BMI View: Argentina's silver and gold mining sectors will experience modest production growth, supported by a solid project pipeline during 2016-2019. The precious metals sector will continue to be hindered by both low precious metal prices and operational challenges in the country.

Argentina's silver and gold production growth will be underpinned by a number of key projects, set to come online during 2016-2019. We expect Argentina's silver production to increase annually by an average 2.3%, rising from 27.7 million ounces (moz) in 2016 to 29.4moz by 2019. Argentina will remain the tenth largest world producer of silver, contributing an average of 3.0% of global silver output over our forecast period. Meanwhile, we forecast the country's gold production to grow by an annual average of 1.6% during 2016-2019, with output climbing to 1.8moz in 2019, from 1.7moz in 2016.
